The art style comes directly from Mignola himself, who drew the entire game, making it look as though the comic book is coming to life on the screen.Īccording to a press release, Hellboy Web of Wyrd will be a roguelite action-adventure game, featuring permadeath and randomly generated maps. The new game's publisher Good Shepherd teamed up with Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy, to bring this game to life and to share Hellboy's story in a way fans have never seen before.
Though there have been rumors of a new Hellboy game since Embracer Group's Dark Horse acquisition, nothing had been announced up until this point. Hellboy Web of Wyrd has been announced with a beautiful trailer at The Game Awards 2022, which can be viewed on the Xbox YouTube channel.
Throughout the years there have been a few video games based on the movies, but fans have not been able to take on the role of the character since 2008. Hellboy started as a comic book published by Dark Horse Comics and later received two different movie adaptations, the original two starring Ron Perlman and the newest one starring David Harbour.
